Next Steps

As this project is coming to a close, I wanted to reflect one the next steps I could do to apply this project into my daily life. I am going to preschedule my workouts on class pass for the next upcoming weeks so I am forced to keep workouts a consistent factor in my life. By prescheduling, it keeps me accountable and having to work my daily schedule around my workout. I am also going to start meal prepping for the week, so I am forced to eat healthy food at home instead of order junk food. These steps will help me incorporate a healthy and energy-filled lifestyle.

Extension To My Project

During my workout journey, I discovered new ways to get active, while also enjoying it and having fun. This experience allowed me to learn more about myself and my health. Overall, this personal project has encouraged me to stay active and has proven to be effective in my overall health. Staying active helps not only your physical but also your mental health. However, staying active is not the only element in order to keep your body in a healthy state. I am now adding a new element to my personal project by exploring and experimenting healthy foods. I want to incorporate a healthy and nutritious meals. Adding nutritious meals to my routine helps complete the healthy package my body needs to maintain a steady energy supply. I will try out nutritious recipes and new restaurants in the Dallas area. This decision reminded me that exercise is not enough without a nice, healthy meal to stay fit.

Tight Dallas Pilates

Tight Dallas Pilates is a studio that is right next to my dorm and SMU’s campus, which makes it super convenient to walk to. I have done Pilates in the past, but never at this studio. I participated in the MegaReformer Total Body class, which I considered challenging but a very fun class. The instructor incorporated very upbeat music that really made the class flow. I would consider this class a high-intensive class and made me feel really good about my workout after. I also enjoyed how the instructor participated in the class as well, instead of just demonstrating the moves on the reformer machine. This helped me perform the moves correctly and kept my stamina going. The instructor main emphasis was for everyone to have proper form and alignment which prevents anyone from getting injured. I truly enjoyed her playlist that flowed to the beat that definitely added to my enjoyment of the class. This has defiantly been one of my favorite workouts I have tried so far!. The location of the studio makes to even more convenient for me to try out their other classes in the near future

Barry’s Bootcamp

For this weeks exercise I went to Barry’s Bootcamp. This was definitely the most intense and hardest workout I have tried so far. I have tried Barry’s back home in Miami, but never went frequently because of how challenging I considered it to be. It is a 55 minute class that incorporates constant movement between different workout moves. The environment is very encouraging and motivates you to keep moving. The energy from the loud, hype music and the colorful lighting makes you excited to workout. Although the workout is hard, it is very rewarding when you finish. Between the strengthening, core exercises, and running on the treadmill you are bound to great results. You focus on different muscles which allows for a full body experience. I am excited to give Barry’s another attempt when I increase m running stamina

Corepower Yoga

For this weeks exercise I went to CorePower Yoga. I really enjoyed this exercise because it consisted of yoga and core strengthening with the usage of weights. I find regular yoga classes challenging but very boring and this class had a fun twist. I took the Hot Power Fusion which is a 50 minute class that includes a blend of balance, flexibility, and core strengthening. I found this class quite challenging, which motivated me to keep up with the instructor. The instructor had high-energy and a great playlist that made the class more fun. Although working out while the room was heated made me extra tired, I felt as if it was the perfect touch and made me experience the impact of the workout in the moment. This class had the element of meditation with the same intensity as a hot and power yoga. It incorporated weights and working on different muscles which I enjoyed. I thoroughly enjoyed this class because it was the perfect reach outside of my comfort zone and challenging enough.

Soul Cycle

For the exercise of the week, I went to Soul Cycle. I had been to Soul Cycle back home in Miami, but I had never experienced the instructors in Dallas. I really enjoyed my experience in Soul Cycle Uptown because it is a high-intense indoor cycling while including small arm section. The instructors really know how to make the classes fun by including music you ride to the beat, high energy music playlists, and unparalleled coaching from their instructors. It was a fun challenge because you had to keep your legs moving while also trying to follow along with the dance moves. The high-energy music really made the class flow and I felt motivated to keep up with the instructor and keep moving. The main factor of this class that I enjoyed was how energetic and encouraging the instructors were. A small part of the class included an arm weight section, which allowed your legs to take a small break and gather your breath while also continuing working out a different section of your body. I believe this workout was out of my comfort zone and hard enough for me to stay engaged and motivated throughout the class. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and this workout class and will recommend this class to all my friends.

First Week: Goals and Plans

Exploring different workouts is easy, but sticking to the routine weekly is the difficult part. I am creating a weekly schedule to have completed within the next few weeks. I will participating and trying out different studios/classes that are going to focus on different parts of my body that I cam explore which ones I enjoy the most. This week I started off with a simple walk on the Katy Trail and will focus on getting my steps in to begin this journey. Being outside allows me to gather my thoughts and plan for the upcoming week.

This weekly list will help me keep myself accountable and keep track of the different studios I have explored. I will choose 2-3 days to dedicate to working out in these studios and the other days will be simple walks around the neighborhood and exploring Dallas.
